 By Ms. Florence Jame

What a joyful and colourful start to the new academic year for grade 4 students, as they created some awesome asymmetrical faces. It was so heart-warming to see and feel the fresh energy in their work! This task was primarily based on elements of art such as shape, colour, line and texture. It was fascinating how each student had the same elements but very different approaches. The students’ personalities came through their use of the elements of art, for example, the clean and organised lines and colour in contrast to some ragged, rough and quite expressive lines and shapes. The collaging added some richness to the creativity too. The dimensions of these faces were the students’ choice, and it was interesting to see very small to gigantic faces! This was a successful reinforcement of and building up on pre-acquired knowledge.
