Week of 19th - 23rd September (Week 9) updates

 

 Unit of Inquiry

This week in our Unit on sustainability we reflected on the research using various book using the Visual thinking routine: compass points. We were designing our blueprint of our sustainable city to show our understanding of sustainability looks like, sounds like and feels like. 

 

 FunZone: 

Exploring and learning more about what skill we choose to develop is what we do during our Funzone. These include: Chess, stitching recycle art and origami. 

 

ENRICHMENT: by Zayden Merchant  and  Shreeram Kandula

This week in volleyball we learned the attack position and how to attack, we also learnt the importance of warm-up. We also played a game where we had to hold the ball in any position and the first team to do five rounds wins!

We continued learning about pointillism, This week we celebrated Dot Day. we created in a creative way our creative dot art on  a CD and we did stared to learn about paper folding art this week..

Library: We celebrated Roald Dahl's birthday. It was on 13th Sep.

Week of 12th -16th September (Week 8) updates

 HINDI
Anika Gupta and Inaya Lakhani
We did an assembly on Hindi divas, we even did diary writing, we read Hindi books and did drama, now we are making our own drama using puppets.

TELUGU
Aadhya Kumbam and Edya Jupally
This week in Telugu we watched health and well-being videos and we went on a nature walk with Ms Vajaravani.

ART
Chaiithra Kondpally and Divisha Barli
This week we are doing Japanese art. It is called Notan design.
Notan art is basically black and white drawings. One of the most famous pieces is the Yin Yang. Some of us had great difficulty with this task,  Many of us glided through this easily. Art lets your creativity and imagination go free.

SWIMMING
Zayden Merchant and Siddarth Barathan
 This week we learned about backstroke and on Tuesday, we raced against the grade 5k in a relay race. Siddarth was up against Ronit and Zayden were up against Ram. We won the race and got 10 to 5 minutes of playtime.

Music
Shreeram Kandula and Nasr Syed Talal
We learnt the 𝄞 (clef) in music. The homework is to write it ten times and also we are learning a song for the musical.

MATHS

This week, We learned about number lines and we played with number cards. We practiced our understanding of comparing larger numbers. Practice task is also given in Maths home journals.

In writing, we tried to understand how to persuade. As a class, we tried to write a text to persuade Ms Latha to change the Wednesday lunch menu and we did the hook, opinion, and reason.

In reading, we continued to read our Guided reading books, during literature circle time we are trying to learn about Roald Dahl's writing style, and we created a conversation between two characters from his book. We learnt about the physical traits and personality traits of characters.

This week in Unit of Inquiry we tried to analyze the response we got from the interview that we had conducted during the weekend on sustainability.
We worked in our groups and tried to research further on sustainability in our groups. We researched Sustainable Decision Making, Creating a sustainable future. Climate change and sustainable future. Sustainability Models from Yesteryears. We are trying to reflect our understanding of the research using the visual routine Compass-points.
