In Unit of Inquiry, we started learning civilization  and made groups like Roman civilisation Greek civilisation Egyptian civilization. We also read a book with Ms Vidhya which is called Indus valley, we learned information from there how the city planning was, the attire people wore in Indus civilisation. We are also in the process of creating an infographic -to not only show our knowledge of the different aspects of a civilisation but go on to understand the commonalities between civilisations and then conclude what are the characteristics that make up a civilisation.

We are doing geometry(from numbers strand we moved to shapes and space). The main thing we are learning in geometry is angles. The different types of angles we learnt are acute, obtuse, right, straight, and angles.








Multisensory Maths Learning on Geoboards

Learning through doing is what reinforces the understanding of concepts, and in the Junior School we encourage learning through multisensory methods. This week, Grade 4 students were keen on showing their learning through the use of Geoboards when recognising and defining different angle types. Through both kinesthetic and visual approaches, they formed closed shapes where they could identify the number of angles and sides. Presenting their findings orally helped to solidify their learning.

So this week we described our about are four day long Diwali weekend in a way like we stretched the details written in form of the beginning, middle and the ending. It was about an event that we enjoyed doing in the weekend.  As the first step to writing descriptive texts, we learnt how to ' Stretch the Detail'.

Then in the literature circle, we continued our reading, we had to read 4 chapters and wrote questions.

This week in swimming we did a competition 4A vs 4K swimming match, we did freestyle.

This week we were practising for the musical in December. We have to learn 10 songs. In those classes we do vocal sessions, and then we practise songs.

We read a book and then we connected to an Ak strand. 

SEL and Digital citizenship session by Mr. Abhimanyu 

We looked the qualities that one looks for in a friend, then we prepared a list of ingredients that is required to make a good friend. 

In digital citizen session Mr Abhimanyu helped us understand  'How does our online activity affect the digital footprints of ourselves and others?'

     This week we wrote what we did during our holidays and read our guided reading.After  that we started  writing  words that we don’t know and interesting words  from our Author study  books ( Roald Dahl)                

Maths

  This week we learned about Geometry. In geometry first step was learning about points, lines and planes. Then we learned about angels. There are different types of angles; we learned about some angles, like right, obtuse, and acute angles. Then we played a game to understand better on a geometry board. We made all types of angels. This is what we did this week in Maths.






 

 

UOI

    We are learning about ancient Civilisation. We also got into Epic and read about the characteristics of a civilisation. Also, we read aloud a book called Indus Valley, connecting our understanding of civilisation to the Indus civilisation, which is getting super exciting. We also did a bus stop activity where we tried to estimate how old it was, and we learned about the achievements of some of the civilisations in Epic. That's all for UOI.

 












Hindi

    This week in Hindi, we did a storyboard and rea story map for the two Hindi stories we read. We borrowed Hindi books from the library and read the book Gaon ka Mela.





Telugu

    In this week's Telugu classes, we learned how to save water, watched stories about saving water, and a short video about a giraffe and an elephant
fighting for water. Ms Kasturi asked us to research how to save water.

PE

This week in PE Ms seena took our class because Ms Vajravani didn't come. The first day we played football as usual. Then the next day, we played with the scarf. Game we had to pull each other's scarfs from their pockets. It was so much fun!!!

  Art

    This week in art, we did a collage with uniquely designed paper strips, which goes by abstract art. We stuck the paper strips to a big piece of paper with a point in the middle. After filling the paper with stripes, we painted the empty parts with black paint. Our next step was to draw eyes and noses, cut them and stick them to our paper. Vola, we finished our work. It was a fun step-by-step artwork.🎨🖼️👩🏽‍🎨!!!                 
                                                                                                                

Music

    This week we were practising for our musical; we have seven songs; names of the songs were; out in the forest; Robin Robin Hood; what a man; amen amen; are we happy, robin in Shamshabad, stop fighting and today. Instead of enrichments, we went to a musical reading, and the grade five's are doing a play for the musical.

Celebration of light

 In the celebration of light, we did an assembly and watched a video about what the celebration of lights means. The grade 2s did a quiz on festivals. Then after the assembly, we did different activities like lantern making, face painting, ladoo making, and painted reusable jars.
After the activities, we went to the roundabout place to play Garba, a familiar dance we do during Navratri.  


 





Week of 26-30 Sep (Week 10) updates

 

 Unit End celebration : updates by Aruhi Pitti and  Faiz Dobaria

In the unit end celebration,  we showed our learning to our parents in different stations and we all had games. And the parents had learned a lot from us, we showed all of our learning to our parents.


 








Unit Of Inquiry

We completed creating our sustainable cities and presenting it to the class. Each city was unique but had facilities like - food, water, transportation, means of livelihood etc. We also explained the systems for the management of resources - food production, energy production, waste management, water management, health management, education, job opportunities, trading systems etc that will help the city to be sustainable.

This week in math we used skipboo cards,  and beads and we did a lot of activities for the unit celebration. And we also so did practising rounding numbers and till practice sheet 10

Numbers

This week in art we were doing abstract art. It is really fun. We can go wild with our imaginations. Then we had to splash the paints on the paper so we could just scribble it . We got bigger papers and ripped our original work and traded with others to get different designs. This was an exciting class.

We learned riddles in Telugu class and to narrate a story using   picture prompts. We also learned songs in Telugu class.

In swimming we learned backstroke but first we learned with a kick board and then without a kick board. We usually never get play time and we do laps as a practice but this week we did laps and on Thursday we only had play time .

ENRICHMENT updates by Nasr and Aadhya Kumbam

In enrichment,  we played volleyball and it was fun. We learnt upper arm and under arm strokes in volleyball.
