This week we learnt descriptive writing. In descriptive  writing, we  looked at a  picture and we  described  the picture using the five sense strategy,  what we saw ,heard, felt, smelled,touched and put them all together in a paragraph.
In reading, we continue our Author study on Roald Dahl. comprehending  for the chapters that we read  is also one the task that we did after reading. In guided reading, we read new set of books, we have to reflect about it  online in our home reading  journal.

 In this unit we have been learning about  characteristics of Civilizations. Now we are focusing on the process like what an  archaeologists does. Some facts about archaeologists. Archaeologists have great organisation skills. Archaeologists dig by mapping the place using drones or satellites to make sure they don't damage the artefacts they find. They also use grids to make sure they know which artefact comes from where. We looked at analysing the credibility of a source of information. We enjoyed this learning and hope we can continue.

 In In Maths, we did geometry and learnt about angles and how to measure them. We also have been doing a lot of practice on how to measure angles. We also did an online task about measuring angles. We can now identify and measure an acute,obtuse,right angles.

We defeated the sixth grader’s in a pool race. We also learnt backstroke without kicking and by using the Pull Buoy. we did six laps of backstroke using the Pull Buoy.

This week in Hindi we started doing literature study and we had to read any story from Maple kids books and write 5w1h and then today we had listened to a story and  act it in groups.


Telugu

This week during our Telugu sesssion we went to boulevard and Ms Kasturi gave everyone a chance to speak about a story in turns .Then we did a presentation in our Telugu book about Ekalavya's story.

We learned Robin hood songs for the musical. We learned ten songs like Robin Robin Hood, Out In The Forest, and What A Man What A Guy. We learnt how to vocalise our voices, and also we practised the musical bass cliff notes space. We relearnt lyrics because some of us forgot and jumbled up ‘Out in the forest’ finale with ‘Out in the forest.

In art, we made the animal collage. To make this we used paper strips and from all  the types of  strips.  This one is a different way of making a collage.

On Thursday, Junior school participated in Shake out drill. The three words "Drop, Cover, Hold" the mantra to be safe during an earthquake was shared with them.

This week in UoI,  we looked at characteristics of civilisations groups, and each group had a member from the Inca civilisation, Greek civilisation, Roman civilisation, Mayan civilisation, and Egypt civilisation. We also reflected using the presentation we made on Canva about attire, festivals and food, achievements, art forms and rituals.

 In understanding angles, we have recently been using protractors to measure angles. We did many fun practice sheets to get a better experience. We predict that we might get to use a 360 degrees protractor. Math is fun, and we can't wait to upgrade to a higher level.

Students watched Ekalavya story and they have integrated with TD Theme.Students are expressing their thoughts in the form of a story.In the Library lesson students listen to one story and they have shared their understanding. Students make their own story “ One sentence story”- in this activity all the students participated actively!!

In Hindi, Students have read the story related with Telangana folk tales and Integrated with skills and sub skills.They have  practiced live worksheet online.They have done their reading assessment also

In PE, we learned about the long jump and kept increasing our height and length in jumping, and the sad thing is that we can't play football now.

This week Ms December first did Vocalisation practice. And we also practised the finale song, 'Out in the forest'. And weekly, three times during lunch play time, we practice for the musical as we are the main choir.

This week in Library, we connected various books with Ak Strands. We also examined how the sub-strands related to the AK strand can justify our assumption.

Social Emotional Learning updates by Ms Vidhya

During SEL session,  we watched a video and discussed the act of empathy. We tried to act out various scenarios where we would show empathy. We will be presenting it in the next lesson.

In Unit of Inquiry, we started learning civilization  and made groups like Roman civilisation Greek civilisation Egyptian civilization. We also read a book with Ms Vidhya which is called Indus valley, we learned information from there how the city planning was, the attire people wore in Indus civilisation. We are also in the process of creating an infographic -to not only show our knowledge of the different aspects of a civilisation but go on to understand the commonalities between civilisations and then conclude what are the characteristics that make up a civilisation.

We are doing geometry(from numbers strand we moved to shapes and space). The main thing we are learning in geometry is angles. The different types of angles we learnt are acute, obtuse, right, straight, and angles.








Multisensory Maths Learning on Geoboards

Learning through doing is what reinforces the understanding of concepts, and in the Junior School we encourage learning through multisensory methods. This week, Grade 4 students were keen on showing their learning through the use of Geoboards when recognising and defining different angle types. Through both kinesthetic and visual approaches, they formed closed shapes where they could identify the number of angles and sides. Presenting their findings orally helped to solidify their learning.

So this week we described our about are four day long Diwali weekend in a way like we stretched the details written in form of the beginning, middle and the ending. It was about an event that we enjoyed doing in the weekend.  As the first step to writing descriptive texts, we learnt how to ' Stretch the Detail'.

Then in the literature circle, we continued our reading, we had to read 4 chapters and wrote questions.

We looked the qualities that one looks for in a friend, then we prepared a list of ingredients that is required to make a good friend. 

In digital citizen session Mr Abhimanyu helped us understand  'How does our online activity affect the digital footprints of ourselves and others?'
