1950: Birth of the comic strip "Peanuts"

The characters of Charles Schultz appeared for the first time in seven American dailies. The main characters were Charlie, Peppermint and Shermy. The dog Snoopy made its first appearance on October 4th 1950. The success was such that many readers started calling the comic "Snoopy" and no longer "The Peanuts".
